TO STAND TILL LAST

by Uttam Gill (writer), BOMBAY(MUMBAI), November 15, 2011

watch the video

When you are awfully down and you feel that you have lost everything...that’s when a hope comes which tells you not to give up...Something raises you up always...

Looking at the sky it is so dull and high;

I wonder over my thirsty and the ploughed land.

To the patches of clouds I begged, I raised my hand

Stop for a while, pour few drops

At your mercy my life my crops

The cruel gust of wind took away my hope

I cried, tears rolls down to my cheeks

Through my parched lips and choking throat

I bid farewell to the unkind clouds

Once again I looked towards the sky

It is still very dull and high

I looked down

I saw a blade of grass

Standing majestically with dignity and hope

I at once jerked away my sickening thoughts

Submitting my fear to my hope

I thanked that blade of grass.

O! You blade of grass, I owe you a lot

You gave me a will

You gave me hope to stand till last

I an affinity for clouds, nice to see them combined with optimism.
