Death of My Young Sister

by Uttam Gill (writer), BOMBAY(MUMBAI), November 14, 2011

watch the video

This poem I wrote when my younger sister was in Intensive Care Unit struggling for her life…The day I pen down these lines in waiting room of the hospital we lost her…The year was 1986

She is vanishing into the dark folds of…. The immortal remain of her past

Like a distant sound fading away so fast

We are speechless We are helpless

I wish I could keep the death away

Let we say that she stay

Let we pray that she stay

Oh! God keep the demon away

This is not the time for him to play his rhyme

Let her see once more sun shining

Let here see once more world smiling

God I know this must me your mistake

How can she have such a fate?

It is not too late.

Let her live life once more with gait

Believe me sincerely we pray

My heart breaks for you and your family. Thank you for sharing this with us. I believe those who leave us never "truly" do.

Thanks My Barb for your comments...I know it is hard for me...I lived the time when condolences poured in...Some part of life is still living for me and your heartfelt condolence reminds me the truth of existence that my sister is dead....She does not exist...I know but I wish to live her…
