In a YouTube video the group of Hacktivists known as Anonymous has said it will target Fox News website for their continued propaganda of the Occupiers at Wall Street

The hactivist group Anonymous, which has been responsible for taking down a number of large websites in the past months, has released a statement that provides that they will take down Fox News' Websites because of Foxs' propaganda efforts against the Occupy Wall Street movement. This comes on the heals of the recent hacking of the Twitter feeds of both Fox News and NBC News.

Anonymous released a YouTube video on October 22 Anonymous describes Fox News' repeated use of certain words such as "filthy", "disgusting" and "dirty" to denounce the protesters and states they are now a target.

Anonymous states the following in the YouTube Video:

In text: "We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We Do Not Forget."

Digitized Voice:

"Citizens of the World and the Internet, We are Anonymous.

Fox News is now the target of Anonymous because of their continued propaganda against the Occupations. Those such as Sean Hannity are attacking the credentials as well as the character of the Occupiers at Wall Street, and this can no longer be allowed.

Anonymous introduces Operation Fox Hunt. Anonymous intends on destroying the Fox News website because their continued right-wing conservative propaganda can no longer be tolerated. They use words such as filthy, disgusting and dirty to describe the protesters. Since they will not stop belittling the Occupiers, we will simply shut them down.

On November 5th, we ask those who are able to commence attacks on Fox News Anonymous will not only shut down Fox News, we will also engage in a propaganda campaign of our own to show them how it feels to be chastized. Fox News, your time has come.

Operation Fox Hunt: November 5th, may the hunt begin.

We are Anonymous. We are legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.”

A second YouTube video released by Anonymous on October 24th provides more details about why they are intent on shutting down the Fox News Website.

The attack day coincides with Guy Fawkes Day — the English holiday that commemorates the execution of English Catholic Guy Fawkes. The mask Anonymous is recognized by was inspired by the Guy Fawkes motif in the graphic novel “V for Vendetta.”

While most commentators have seen the rise in level of attacks as designed to provoke anxiety, gain notoriety, and not out of the norm, a recent CNBC article states that "Anonymous' communications issues are a more recent trend.... [and in] fact, the group has achieved a level of notoriety that has upped the stakes in the hacking world."

This is fairy typical, these attempts by the political left to silence those they disagree with. They’ve been doing it, often murderously so, for well over a century.

Tony, I hope you don’t mind a minor correction but November 5 commemorates the Gunpowder Plot, of which Fawkes was part, and not his execution. :-)

Sorry, that did not come out well. It goes like this;

Gunpowder, treason and plot

I see no reason why gunpowder treason

Should ever be forgot

Thank you for the correction and the additional information. I'd change it though rather let the article stand as it is with your corrections.

I think it's important to note, not to mention a tad ironic, that orginally Guy Fawkes celebrations were about mocking the man and his failure to be a successful perpretrator, and in turn the continued success of the 'establishment', if you will.

It's funny to me that the day bears his namesake. I guess it's not always the greatest compliment to have something named after you!

Were they really about mocking the man? I thought they were just about blowing a figure made of boxes up and having the "time of one's life."
