A runner's poem

by Ellie (writer), , October 03, 2011

I am a runner and feel this poem in my heart. For those of you who run, and you know who you are, this is dedicated to you. May the wind be at your back.

She Runs

She feels a certain release when she runs
rhythmic footfalls on the pave
syncopated cadence that flows with
each thought, each beat, each breath.

She flies.

Twinges of discomfort come and go
much like the trials in any lifetime
but to run, therein lies the gold
stolen moments, Mistress Silence, blessed Queen.

She soars.
