Mahmoud Abbas’s Palestinian Solution

Mr. Palestine

It's time, I think, to put Mahmoud Abbas, leader of the Palestine Authority, under the spotlight.

He’s a man of peace, Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian authority, the man who came to town last week, to the United Nations, to plead for the recognition of a Palestinian state. A man of peace and a moderate, a man with whom it’s possible to do business; at least that’s how he is perceived by so many Western governments, an altogether better prospect than the wild men of Hamas, the terrorist thugs who control the enclave of Gaza, the other face of Palestine.

Ah, but let’s have a closer look at this man of peace, let’s put him under the spotlight, let’s see what the Israelis are faced with. Ecce homo; always, always behold the man.

Robert Bernstein, one of the founders of Human Rights Watch, knows exactly what Abbas represents, no matter that he has been lauded by the ignorant, most often dictatorial, governments of the earth. Writing recently in the Washington Post, he said that the vote to add to the United Nations a new member state that calls for the elimination of its neighbour and glorifies terrorism will make peace harder, not easier, to achieve. After all, as he reminds us, Abbas is a man who has said that he will never recognise a Jewish state.

Make no mistake: this is not simply opposition to Zionism or to Israel. He and his acolytes are on record saying that not one Jew will be allowed to live in Palestine. On the possibility that NATO may monitor a future agreement he said that “I will not accept the presence of Jews in these forces.”

There are deep roots to his anti-Judaism – yes, that’s exactly what it is – going back to his Moscow student days, when he wrote a doctoral dissertation entitled The Other Side: the Secret Relations between Nazism and the Zionist Movement.

This document is quite revealing, giving clear insight to Abbas’ moral as well as his intellectual confusion. There is the usual Holocaust-denial, that gas chambers were never used to kill Jews. He goes on to say that at most only 890,000 Jews were murdered by the Nazis. I leave you to draw your own conclusions about this muddle-head…and the quality of Moscow PhDs.

So, only 890,000 Jews died at the hands of the Nazis, he wrote. That’s nothing, really, but why exactly were they killed, under what circumstances? Well, you see, it’s in part because the Zionists provoked the Germans into a campaign of extermination, and by such means brought about a victory – wait for it – for Zionism! No, I can’t follow the reasoning here either, the reasoning behind these gasless murders and their precise role in securing a Zionist victory. It’s a matter that really should be taken up with Mister Abbas.

You might also want to take up his views on the historic connection of the Jewish people with the Biblical land of Israel. As Melanie Phillips writes in the journal Standpoint, despite the fact that the Jews are the only people for whom Israel was ever a nation-state, Al-Hayat al-Jadid, a paper controlled by the Palestinian Authority, earlier this year stated that the “Zionists must acknowledge publicly, in front of the world, that the Jews have no connection to the Palestinian Arab land.” Abbas has added his intellectual weight to this, asserting an entirely fictitious Palestinian presence going back some 9000 years, which made them, in his words, “the owners of history.”

Don’t be deceived by the suit and the professorial appearance of this ‘owner of history’. He may look like a bewildered don but he has authentic terrorist credentials. He has previously boasted of sending fighters into Israel to murder civilians during the intifada of 2005-6. At the funeral last year of Muhammad Daoud Oudeh, the man who masterminded the murder of Israel athletes in Munich in 1972, he described him as “A wonderful brother, companion, tough and stubborn, a relentless fighter.”

It gets worse, the kind of notions that this man embraces, so embarrassing on occasions that even the PA’s official news agency has left out comments from some of his speeches. Most recently this concerned the Israeli use of trained dogs and pigs to attack Palestinian Arabs. No, I’m not joking. Here is the relevant passage;

What we want is to end the occupation and tend legitimacy for, occupation and practices is the nightmare that is holding our hearts, as reflected these practices continued raids and arrests and the building of walls and demolition of houses, and the intensification of settlement activities, and attacks the settlers of Bakla trees and burning of mosques and the latest training dogs to attack us and send the wild pigs to wreak land corrupt, three things which the settlers will confront us: When any person Siatdon find it, well its streets and dogs, and pigs for the uprooting of trees, in addition of course to the tanks.

My, oh my, those killer pigs, wreaking land corrupt!

This is the man the West expects Israel to do business with; this is the man who, even when the Israeli government froze the development of new settlements, still refused to negotiate. The simple truth is, as Philips says, he is a Jew-hater committed to ethnic cleansing;

The West gives Abbas a free pass because they think there is no alternative solution to the one he proposes. But, appallingly, the solution that he represents risks being a final one.

Israel represents the values of tolerance and diversity, the values of civic freedom and democracy. If we lose sight of this, if we embrace racists and petty tyrants like Mahmoud Abbas, if the world allows a Palestinian state on his terms, then we truly have taken the path to perdition. Abandon reason; enter the twilight world of Abbas, the world of murder and conspiracy incorporated.

And only a few months ago the Egyptians blamed Israel for training sharks to destroy their red sea tourism. So while we are well familiar with all the people and countries that Israel is facing, is there any choice but to negotiate with these people. After all, they are there to stay

Actually, Ranfuchs, I wonder how familiar you are in the States with a man like Abbas, how honest your press is? Anyway, I wrote this as a corrective to nonsense and misinformation.

Both sides have faults. But regardless with Israel relentless pursuit of Israeli settelments, peace will NEVER be achieved.

I've been to the side of the world, and there is NO DOUBT you see some serious oppression. So screw the press, take a trip and you will see with your own eyes that there is something wrong and yes the Palestinians had enough.

Unless Israel does what we did in the United States to Mexico and to Native Americans.
