I Was Raised Catholic So Sex Will Always Be Dirty

Oh Jesus Christ!

"Sex is Good. Sex is Great! I love Wood. Now Fornicate!"

Let us face it! Many of us have once in a blue moon heard:
"Your body is a temple designed by God"
"Your body is sacred and so is the fruit within"
"The body is not meant for fornication; it is for the Lord and the Lord for the body"

If you were raised in a religious home, this was enforced until you were either 50 years old or you deviated so much that you fornicated until your insides had rotten. Personally, I was not born in a religious home but it's as if it was. Old values were always enforced and with a Cuban military father and grandfather - Shit! You didn't even want to think about deviating!

These values included:
'don't need anything when going to visit another's home'
'if you are given nothing, do not ask for it for. if you are meant to have something, it will be given, then be thankful it was'
'you have your faith, so respect God and the Church, fear the unknown and respect it'
'you are Catholic because you hold Catholic beliefs'

All of those somehow always ended with:
"If you don't follow the rules, God will know"
You didnt even have to know who God was! You didn't want a man named God - whom everyone loved - to hate you and to see you doing bad things! This was like Santa Claus and the 'Naughty List'. - Shit! I wanted my heavenly presents of puppies and kittens! Unicorns and Glitter!

With values like those, who would deviate? NOT I! - Sex seems to be dirty, a sin, and immoral in some religions, specially Catholicism. To be honest, Paul's Letter to the Corinthians 6,13-19 has not an iota of what it was preaching: "Keep away from fornication. All other sins are committed outside the body; but to fornicate is to sin against your own body. Your body, you know is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you because you received the Spirit from God".

Yet, having the knowledge that something is so very forbidden and that overall, such actions are not well viewed in the community in which you were brought up in, much less the family you were raised by... Ultimately, the mind gets curious... and the body too.

So it makes me wonder and then realize:
If my body is a temple and this temple was created by God - Then fuck!
God is far more deviant than he was given credit for!

I will admit, I am not a full Catholic, I will also admit that I am more of a self-believer and true Darwinian ... but thank God I was raised Catholic, so sex will always be dirty!

"Sex is Good.
Sex is Great!
I love Wood.
Now Fornicate!"
(amature rhyming by yours truly)

There is no greater sin than ignorance. There is no greater evil than those who try to force other to do good

There is no greater sin than forcing someone to believe in what you believe.

Repression will always eventually result in a huge backlash. Those who have been taught that sex is a sin will fly to the opposite extreme and make it their holy of holies.

Very true NP.

Your article and it reminds me of the old Billy Joel song "Only the good die young". :)

What Paul was saying in 1 Corinthians 6: 13-19 is that your bodies are members of Christ himself. Which is why you shouldn't use your body to fornicate. Thats not only a Catholic belief, its pretty much a Christian belief. "Fornicate" in those verses are being referenced to (being with prostitutes). Sexual Morality in those days was being referred to as towards homosexuals and homosexual activity, and or having sex with animals. Therefore, Paul was saying try to think of your body as being "HIS" Holy Temple. It does NOT say "sex is dirty, and bible actually speaks of sex as being beautiful and a G_d given gift being Holy when 2 people unite as one. It also says a women was made to please the man and to be enjoyable threw the expression of love. So do it and enjoy it. Yahooo

Sex it one thing, sure it fun and feels good.

But making love is totally a different thing.

Anyone can F---k...and feel good about Unless of course they suck at making love. lol

Though not every does it in love.
