Poor Me, Poor Me!

Credit: (c) Jason Davis
Sunshine, smiles and love!

I wrote this yesterday on Facebook in response to having read one negative status update after another.

My parents divorced when I was 2. I was sexually abused at 7. I had a tumultuous relationship with my sister growing up. I was a fat kid who got made fun of. I have had several knee surgeries and constantly have issues. I don't have a lot of money. I've been working at my career forever. I never get the acting roles I want. I got cheated on by my ex-fiance. I was single for over 15 years. I was in several unhealthy relationships. I had weight loss surgery and almost died due to complications. I've lost hair.

And...................................... ???! We ALL have had issues! It's what you CHOOSE to do after you've been through the storm! You can make excuses forever about how bad you have it and not one of those excuses will change your past! You can invite me to your little dark pity party but I'm not joining. I'm rather enjoying the sunshine over here!

But you are trying and that is what is important! There are people who no matter what positive thing you say to them, they still want to find reasons as to why they can't be happy. It was mainly directed to people who think their excuses excuse them from living happily. ;)

What I meant more about "negative" updates isn't an occasional sarcastic or smug or even just sad update. We are all human and I don't expect any of us to not have problems or issues. It truly stemmed from one particular person who no matter what was said, always had a comment about how bad things were. Whether it be the weather, or their job, or their looks, or friends or anything. It was beyond miserable and they kept saying how bad their life was. I wanted to show that we all have bad stuff that happens. That was my point, really. Not that everyone has to be annoyingly positive like myself. ;)
