Glass Walls (L'amore è Sacrificio)

Deciphering a Dream about the walls we build to protect ourselves which also prevent others from loving us

Some call it power,
spend their lives climbing or creating it,
addicted to the money machine
an insatiable need driven by scarcity
fame
enough it is never
the glass walls
just to maintain
Some break themselves chasing their dreams

What they can only wish for, you have achieved
but the glass walls surround you
keep you caged like a lion
on display at a zoo
flashes of strobe lights flickering
filling my sleep
they think they know you
believe they can see
those walls mix with self preservation
naked eyes cannot perceive
glass walls built to protect you
sometimes prevent others from loving you

When she left for the stars
many watched me fall into darkness
but you came to me
glass walls falling like water
reaching out your hand
gambling
on a connection destined to be

you knew I knew

fluid words written
symbols of comfort
unnoticed for years
shining a light onto paths yet unknown
splintered heart healing
a kindness not forgotten
I promised myself
to return the same
gestures
if ever it was needed

you knew I knew

Drawing closer
without words
love seeks more intimacy
bringing up everything unlike itself
for purposes of healing

you knew I knew

What you were never willing to say
non volendo rivelare
could have compromised myself
like others
to maintain a space
riflettori intimo
creating desire for
vietato baci

you knew I knew

Remembering the truth
only by letting go of my dream di voi
che si fida della mia sincerità
creating the space
to know I non sarebbe compromesso la mia integrità morale e
to be with someone degne di un re
not even you,
l'amore è sacrificio
so I opened my hands

love would trovare un modo
per tornare a me
or those glass walls
would forever imprigionare voi
tenerci a parte

you knew I knew

Much time has passed
we have
hopefully for the better
then to live sentirsi perseguitato

All of which I endure,
never detouring me
di amare incondizionatamente

Yet in your darkest hour,
magically appearing
when everything fades to black
like a promise kept
come avete fatto a me

I will always shine a light for you

Bella
please tell me now
come questa storia continua
same pattern repeating
o un amore senza fine
parting like the red sea in my dreams
glass walls falling
dripping into repressed emotions
permettendo baci farfalla in

I trust
ci consuma
let faith lead the way
l'amore che ci meritiamo

you knew I knew

Melody, I think I prefer to let people practice their Italian. ;) There is something intimate and romantic about having to decipher another language, especially in poetry. It gives the reader more time to mull over, and take in the context and true meaning of what is being written.
