“They Come and They Go”

A dear friend sent me an email and he was truly down. Some family members came in close and cut close to the bone with snide comments on his misfortune and boasts of good fortune they had not earned.

We cannot force the sun to rise before it is time.
We cannot expect pearls from those wallowing in slime.

Life has a pattern and ebb and a flow.
The bad days come upon us and just as soon go.

To those who speak ill and snarl in your face
Turn a deaf ear. Put them in their place.

If you try to find comfort from people who can’t or won’t give,
You’ll be at their mercy as long as you live.

They care not for your sorrow; they feast on your pain.
The sooner you dismiss them, the sooner you gain.

Make the best that you can of this time and know it will pass.
They cannot take from you your style and your class.

They look at you with envy and speak out of spite.
Repetition of wrongs does not make them right.

Be kind to yourself it’s the least you deserve.
Don’t give up hope keep your courage and nerve.

There are many mysteries, but this much is true
Despite their arrogance and meanness, they are far beneath you.

If you try to find comfort from people who can’t or won’t give, You’ll be at their mercy as long as you live. that line hit home.....

with a certain person (or in general) i always wanted to get a sense of forgivness, but no matter how much i tried it always back-fired. and because of it my power was sapped and they fed off it. its not a good feelin'...i also think its not about who has the power but the mutual respect has to be in play. thats all i ever wanted...

"Repetition of wrongs does not make them right."

Isn't that the truth!

It is like a ping pong game! And who is right becomes more important than what is right. Sometimes, people just have to agree to disagree, compromise and let things go..unfortunately, many people think just letting the person go will help them find resolve but, harboring the resentment and and allowing it to bounce between your heart and soul is still just as damaging.

Thanks for posting, it serves as a reminder of our words and actions affect the entire energy field.

Melody,

I was glad I could help him out. He has done so much to fight for others who cannot fight for themselves. Then, those "who should be there for him" as you say came in and cut deep. I was delighted that this little thing worked so well for him. He thanked me promptly; then, he sent me another message and said, "I must have read this sixteen times; I can't thank you enough." That made me glad I made the attempt.

Mike,

I believe you wrote about at least one person who was treating you far worse than you deserve. From all I have learned of you, you are much like my friend. A fighter with a great and generous heart. In a sense, this poem was written for you as well as my personal friend.

Thanks for your cogent comment.

LDL,

"it serves as a reminder of our words and actions affect the entire energy field."

I wish I'd said that. This is precisely the point. We need to keep a civil tounge in our heads especially around those who should be able to count on us for kindness and support.

Great, insightful observation, thank you!
