Bitter Fruit

Credit: Tim Giangiobbe, Dog Eat Dogma.
Homeless Woman silently challenging the political arena.

Poem about the "lost ones". Touching life and the reality of the "invisible".

I'm tired..but can't stop. Intrigued by the adventure. Obligated by the disgust.

The lies within seduction... The tales and trails of broken hearts.. America's lost. Drunkards, whores, beggars, poor, the sick and the sinners. The neglected and the left behind.

Bounded and bonded like lepers. They huddle. Protecting each other, because no one protected them.

Admitted lost causes. Coasting along empty allies.

Following the drift of dampened paper.

Soiled and Smelly

Sour and Turned

Curious Apples..Bitter fruit.

The core of the Earth. Buried and hidden.

Unrecognizable and Unteachable

Wild, untrained, and unruly.. Beasts of burden... (They say)

"Shifty side-eyed Vagrants"..she spit; from her plastic body in her titanium car, with gold-plated heel pressing the pedal.

(The Living), barely paying her attention...For she is but a wicked ghost, only to be swept away with salt from the purest sea. Her face..the most ghastly of all. An unwavering stench. A hideous view...

Her sins are so atrocious..that they are unmentionable.

"Speak not of the dead, for they are dead and can't hear anyway."

Mantra,

"Drunkards, whores, beggars, poor, the sick and the sinners. The neglected and the left behind." America's lost in how many cases are they also America's loss?

When we see these "neglected and left behind", we should consider that they were not always so.

Have you painted a portrait of the country America is ever more rapidly becoming. A nation divided between the "Soiled and the Smelly" and the drivers of titanium cars whizzing by?

I often fear so, but I always hope not!

Thanks Guys :) I'd hoped to draw thought and discussion on what we consider as living and dead. The inhuman and the human. To me a human feels, a true human being senses and understands. Hurts and experiences. So often the ones that are considered to be alive.."Living the life" are often highlighted as the rich..the wealthy and the better class.

The ones that society has deemed the "lost" or the "Bitter Fruit"..are the real ones with the vision..because they watch from the outskirts. They reject the fallacy and see truth for truth.

These "Whores, beggars, sinners and drunkards..etc." are sarcastically named in this piece.. Only to express the opposite view point.

There's an African proverb from the Dagara Tribe that says "To be closer to dirt, is to be closer to God".

We get caught up in what we see..instead of what is Real. if it were possible to remove all of the excess..the fancy clothes, money, toys etc..and see a Man for who he is..the "Invisibles" will be the ones that stand out the most.

We do get caught up with our everyday lives and forget about those who need our help so desperately. I appreciate you bring this to light as we know its out there and some times we just choose to look the other way.

@Caballero, you are so right in saying we should consider that they were not always this way and its not for us to judge how they got there but to help them and show them some kindness as it often goes a long way.

These lost souls are the evidence that civilization has lost its civility, and social disfunctionality is the results of such a breakdown.
