The 1936 Olympics was held in Berlin, Germany. Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party had risen to power three years earlier and were already to spread their evil beliefs of racism and hate. Hitler believed that the “perfect” person was from an Aryan race…a blue-eyed, blond haired, the perfect physique without any blemishes or handicaps.

Hitler saw the Games as an opportunity to promote his government and ideals of racial supremacy to the world. The official Nazi party newspaper wrote in the strongest terms that Jews and Black people should not be allowed to participate in the Games. However,... Read More

I think we have all wondered at some time in our lives what it would be like if two super heroes got together and fought it out. Superman vs. Iron Man. The Rock vs. The Incredible Hulk. Batman vs. Captain America. But what about famous sports stars or Hall of Famers?

My father, a long-time bowler—a “Gringo” who for a short time toured with the Salvadorian team in the 1960’s—began his passion for bowling early in his youth. We, his family, followed. He would later encourage my husband and me to bowl with our own children in a family league.

My father had a true passion for bowling, and he was certainly one to emulate, a perfectionist to form, his bowling scores and average proved it. Although he never did bowl a 300 game, he was nevertheless right at 300’s door many [frustrating] times.

Bowling soon became our family’s obsession, too; in no-time... Read More
