I hate when people say “Oh my God, are you kidding?†after you tell them a story. It’s an automatic response that for an unknown reason we all feel that we have to say when we hear something interesting. But if we could see ourselves responding that way, we would most likely feel like complete idiots because unless the person you are talking to is a pathological liar, chances are he/she is not kidding. And if you are indeed talking to a pathological liar, the answer to “are you kidding?†will get you no further true information anyway…..One of these days I am going to say, “Yep.... Read More
In my short life, I've had my fair share. To be honest, I've had about five people's fair share. I realized a few nights ago, that not everyone has quite the amount of experience as I when some friends started sharing our "numbers" over cocktails at "Little Bar" on Wilshire. To be honest, I was more than embarrassed.
Their "numbers" came in at around five to seven. Some of them were claiming ten. As I stumbled around for words, an explanation to what was about to come out of my mouth, I could feel the flush spread across my cheeks and the sweat drip on to the bar from my clammy palms. I didn't... Read More
A grande white chocolate mocha from Starbucks cost $3.80. It is my “two or three times a week†indulgence but only if I have time to go to the drive-through Starbucks by my house before work in the morning. I mean seriously, if I am going to pay over $3 for a cup of coffee, I certainly should be able to do it from the comforts of my own car, without the hassle of parking, (always a fun task in LA) only to stand in line once you get inside. Of course I understand the social aspects of enjoying your coffee inside but sometimes you just need to get it and go.
This morning I experienced something... Read More
When some people hear the words...Cover Band... it makes them cringe. Some people are extremely against them, others don't understand the point, while most don't even bother. Why would you want to see an imitation of a band that you once loved?
There's no doubt that people can be protective over their favorite music, especially when it comes to other people covering their songs. But are all tribute bands pointless?
Tribute bands seem to focus on a particular group, unlike cover bands who can go for a general genre or several artists. Many of the tribute bands that exist came to be because... Read More
How often does an abnormally hot girl comes up to you and begs to be your friend? Not everyday, right? Well then, you should go to MySpace and it will happen more than you would have ever dreamed. And that's paradoxally very unfortunate.
Behind the very pleasant face, and often close to naked body of SexyPam, usually hides a fake profile with a bunch of links to different websites: myspace layouts, ringtones, webcams...
Due to its very high traffic and the demography of its users, MySpace has become a goldmine for advertisers. By luring potential customers into reading their fake profiles, they... Read More
"Bob! Bob! Run away!" Janice shouts to her fellow ant shortly before a human foot touches down a yard or two from the home colony. Bob is crushed. Janice is crushed, figuratively, by the sight of one her fellow co-workers flattened by the unpredictable nature of weather.
To ants, human must be like weather. Think about it. Humans are so vastly greater in size and quite unpredictable. How are ants to view us as anything other than weather. The world through the interpretation of an ant is obviously much different. I doubt the stars make a lick of difference to them. However, the never-ending... Read More
Every couple of years or so, we get blown away by some musical intervention that overwhelms us all. In which for some people, it takes them into some-what of a different realm and changes the way they see and listen to music. In 1999, ZP Theart, Herman Li, and Sam Totman conceived the melodic, power-metal onslaught that is DragonForce, which took the world there.
Hailing from the UK, these metal gods, known as DragonHeart at the time, posted their now discontinued demo, Valley of the Damned, online and got a massive fan-base with numbers as high as half a million within a short time. Sanctuary/Noise... Read More
