I saw a listing for a site called www.hollywoodprofiles.com that claimed they could help get me parts in films as an extra. I have been an extra in a couple movies in the past, including The Incredible Hulk (the first one) and Mad City (with John Travolta and Dustin Hoffman) and both times it was a lot of fun.

Being on a movie set is a blast, the food is excellent and if you're lucky, you might not even get cut out of the film. I got to hang out with some of the actors and for just a moment, I was treated like a star. So, when I saw this thing for www.hollywoodprofiles.com, I was intrigued.

Have you ever been standing in a store or even at work and heard the words That’s not my job? Earlier today, I walked passed a conversation, of which I was not intended to be a part, nor did I care to participate and I heard someone say, “It’s not my job.” As I walked out of earshot of the conversation I muttered under my breath to myself, “And it’s no damn wonder nothing ever gets done around here.”

That is the mentality workers in America have taken and it sucks. Americans should be ashamed of themselves for even thinking something isn’t their job. If you work for someone it is... Read More

As I am sure many of you have noticed, BrooWaha really seems to be picking up steam and establishing itself as a top-tier citizen writer’s network. Ariel founded an online monster that has created quite a buzz and my prediction is that it’s only going to get more popular in the very near future and beyond.

One of the ways I can tell that Broo is succeeding in its mission to build a worldwide writers’ community is by the number of page views my articles are receiving. I am getting between 500-800 views per day, which I find amazing. I have never even come close to getting this many hits... Read More

Who are you?My name is David Cohn, but I often go by the alias Digidave. I often joke that I am a jack of all trades and a master of none. I grew up in Los Angeles and did my undergrad at UC Berkeley. After living in SF for a bit and working at Wired magazine, I moved to New York to continue perusing journalism and to work towards my masters degree at Columbia's J-school. And now I'm back in the bay area. I'm lucky in that I've found a way to work on projects, like Broowaha, that I love. I try to be as much of an open book as possible on my blog. How did you hear about BrooWaha?I first heard... Read More

I have to admit, I was a bit nervous when I picked up the phone and called Craig Newmark. The guy has helped me find every apartment I've ever lived in, four bikes and even a few dates. When he picked up the phone Craig asked me to hold on while he turned down the TV.

He then answered every question I had in the most polite fashion possible. In the middle of our interview the ever watchful Newmark did a quick search for his name and found a Twitter I had just put out: "I'm interviewing Craig Newmark from Craigslist in 20 mins, anybody have any good questions." After a quick laugh, I... Read More

This is a month old but still worth mentioning... Google has added several cities to its Street View service on August 8th and our beloved city of angels is now part of the few locations you can browse from the comfort of your home computer. The other cities added to the service last month are San Diego, Houston and Orlando. For those of you who don't know what Google Street View is, check out the video below in which a Google guy will enthusiastically take you through the service dressed in a sexy orange spandex:

Want to give it a try now? How about you start on 3rd Street Promenade... Read More

The older guy was standing in a corner, a Diet Pepsi in his hand. He was dressed in shorts, flops, and a "Tee" shirt emblazoned with the slogan "over 50 and still gnarly" on the back. He was just minding his own business when the "suit" with the blue drink enquired of him, "And what do you do, sir?, for a living, I mean?...your attire suggests a fairly laid back lifestyle...Are you retired?" The old guy eyeballed the "suit" from the top of his head to the balls of feet and with just a smallest flash of a smirk, he replied, "I am in International Investment Banking, I loan money." A flush of... Read More
