For many entrepreneurs in the job placement services, an ever increasing supply of candidates and ever diminishing of positions might have seemed like the perfect storm. But not RiseSmart CEO and founder Sanjay Sathe."We couldn't afford to do the kind of ad campaign that TheLadders.com did," said Sathe. "So we had to find a different model and rely on word-of-mouth and viral marketing."While developing a B2B service solution had already been part of Sathe's long-term plan, the recession helped push the idea forward, with plans to leverage the company's B2C offering in order to build interest... Yesterday’s announcement that Warren Buffett, the oracle from Omaha, was buying the balance of the shares of Burlington Northern, the second largest rail carrier in the country, illustrated his philosophy of buying into an industry that he can understand. Investors in the stock of the holding company that he runs, Berkshire Hathaway, should be pleased to see Buffett make a big move with the mounds of cash at his disposal. The $44 billion price tag is the largest deal ever done by Buffett.

The railroad business in the U.S. has suffered with the general economy. However, the... Read More

In a landmark jury trial, the City of San Antonio and 172 Texas cities won $20.6 million verdict against 11 of the largest online travel booking companies, including Expedia, Travelocity, Priceline & Orbitz.

San Antonio claimed that online reservations companies charged customers sales tax based on the retail rate, though only remitted taxes to the city on the negotiated wholesale price.

During the course of the interviews, conducted by Spectrum Brand Strategy, LLC, it was suggested that micro-blogging and social networks may become a point of entry for digital natives, but most see a certain percentage of entrants eventually developing... Read More

So I go out and spend my last few coins on junk food. Well the healthcare system is FUBAR and so lets eat sugar salt and fat. Ok, so I am a little depressed.

But here is the kicker. I see an article on CNN Money and the title is “10 office FausPaus “ so I am wondering what is considered faux paus “ these days” in the rampant wave of corporate crime.

I started writing for this site a long time ago. It was within the first few months of its inception as a matter of fact. I was invited to this site from an ad on Craigslist. Does anyone else remember that thing? The ad asked would-be authors to come join a "revolution" in journalism in which the people decide what they want seen in their newspaper. It said things like writers will no longer be influenced by special interest newspapers and editors and would be allowed to express themselves as the true voice of the people.
