Getting The Balance Right
As a work from home mom it is really important for me to get the balance right. I need to be able to get my quota or work done each day without jeopardizing the time and commitment that I have for my children and my husband. I have learned a few tricks over the years and I would like to share them with you.
1. Create a schedule and stick to it
One of the most important things for me is my schedule. I have a diary, a white board and my own to-do-list. On my white board I write my work schedule and the hours that I plan to work each day. This... Read More
“When the only thing you have ever worked with are words, how can you not lie?”
Politicians running for office such as Governor Brown and Los Angles DA Steven Cooley have found a legitimate “culture of corruption,” with the prosecution of the corrupt and pathetic leadership of the city of Bell. Handpicked city council members were paid close to 100 thousand dollars a year to work part time, and voted or acquiesced, to city managers and the police chief who paid themselves millions of dollars in salary and pension benefits over less than half a decade.
So what does this have to... Read More
Not too long ago, my sons and I attended a parent/player meeting at my 13 year-old son’s school auditorium for the upcoming football season. Earlier that day, the coach had decided my 13 year-old would be helpful to the team by playing the tailback position for the season. I was very proud of him. I had looked up the term “tailback” on the Internet to know what a tailback’s responsibility was on the football team.
Anyway, we were listening to the coach share how the football program worked at my son’s middle school. The head coach went over what the expectations were for both... Read More
Why is it there is nothing that is happening to help our public education system? Why is it that we are falling behind all other nations when the U.S. was looked at as the leader in so many industries and the place where dreams come true? Our country is changing...and changing for the worse, at least when it comes to education. Let me share an example of poor grammar and poor communication I personally faced during 'Open House' as my 13 year old returned to middle school this year.
If you wonder where communication goes wrong, when things change and alter the boys and girls who will... Read More
I grew up with a sister six month younger than me. She was the miracle love child in my mom's eyes. My parents were not supposed to be able to conceive according to the Doctor's of that era. Mom had been married from the age of 25 and had just one natural-born son thus far. She had been to doctors to find out why she could not conceive. My dad was diagnosed with being low sperm count. My parents adopted a baby boy six years after the first-born. Six years later my mom mourned for specifically baby girl. They applied for one and continued to try to conceive on their own because they had very... Read More
Each day parents are faced with issues of our time related to education, the economy, changing social norms and then the big one, dignity of life. As parents it is important to take life’s challenges, show confidence in our Lord (John 16:33) and put issues in “digestible” terms for our children. Around the dinner table, my daughters and I really, really enjoy a meal with white rice. Recently, as we sat chatting about the day’s events, I recalled news in my mind on the right to life issue. In a flash of inspiration, I picked-up a single grain and directed the conversation to how “Magnificent... Read More
Ryan is a typical three and a half year old boy. He runs around the house dragging a well chewed teddy bear behind him. He fights with, and screams at his sister, who is 15 months his senior. He jumps up and dances around when Yo Gabba Gabba comes on the TV.
Ryan also doesn't talk. His recognisable vocabulary comprises of 'Dada, Mama, Papa and Joojoo'. That is almost one word for each of his years. We know he understands as many words as the average boy his age. He listens, comprehends and does what is asked of him. We see and feel his frustration at not being able to communicate because...
